Sacred Ground Circle

Please join us for a Sacred Ground circle. Sacred Ground is a film and reading based dialog, grounded in faith. Small groups are invited to walk through chapters of America’s history of race and racism, while weaving in threads of family story, economic class, political and regional identity.

We will start our group on Saturday, October 1, 2022. This first meeting will be from 10:00-2:00 in the Upper Hall. Please bring a lunch to this session. At that time, we will decide as a group if we want to meet in person or via zoom for the rest of the sessions.

Following our first session, we will meet Tuesday evenings from 6:30-8:00, starting October 18. Meetings will occur (with changes over Christmas) every two weeks after that.

Here are our meeting dates: October 1 (Initial Meeting), October 18, November 1, November 15, November 29, December 13, January 3, January 17, January 31, February 14, and March 7.

The following is a list of the required books:

-Waking Up White and Finding Myself by Debby Irving and

– Jesus and the Disinherited by Howard Thurman.

In addition, there will be excerpts from other resources found on the Sacred Ground website, which you will have access to before we meet on October 1.
