A Note from the Senior Warden: The Search for an Interim Dean

A Note from Your Senior Warden

The searches for an Interim Dean and Dean are in the early stage, but we are moving forward. At our Lesser Chapter meeting on March 15 we voted to invite the Rev. Pamela Mott, currently Priest-in-Charge at Grace Church in Bath, to serve as our Search Consultant. Pam has accepted our invitation to serve in this capacity.

Our immediate focus needs to be on hiring an Interim Dean. Our Transition Priest-in-Charge, Paul St. Germain, will continue to serve half-time through April. Ideally, we would have an Interim Dean on board in May. If needed, Paul could continue to fill in half-time before the Interim Dean arrives, but he will be taking a long-planned family trip during the month of May. The Lesser Chapter will be designating a small group to serve as the Interim Dean Search Committee. We plan to hold two Town Hall meetings after our Sunday services to gather information from parishioners about specific qualities we should look for in the Interim Dean.

These will be on Sunday April 2 (Palm Sunday) and Sunday April 16. We’ll also have a mechanism for folks who cannot attend either meeting to communicate their thoughts. Please watch for further announcements about these events.

An advertisement for the Interim Dean position is being prepared and will be posted soon with the assistance of Suzanne Roberts, the Diocese’s Acting Transition and Deployment Officer. We already have a recommendation of one very experienced potential candidate for the position. The Interim Dean search will be a very streamlined process, separate from the search for our next Dean. But it is a chance for us to begin to think deeply about the future of St. Luke’s and discern how we want to evolve as a Christian community, serving each other and the world beyond our doors. May God be with all of us in our journey!
