The labyrinth installation and planting of the rain gardens in the front churchyard will occur in May. Rain gardens help improve the quality of stormwater runoff by capturing, infiltrating, cleaning, and slowing down the flow of rainwater before it runs into the watershed. The landscape concept is to have color blocks of the same plants and colors, so we are requesting a minimum of 3-7 plants.
We request community plants to include in the garden beds, rain garden, and reflection garden. Jennifer Bear (featured in photo), Landscape Designer and Environmental Planner at Confluence Designs recommends Hostas Minimum of three plants of the same variety and color and Daylilies and Iris Minimum of seven Rhizomes Tubers same type and color. These plants can be delivered to the church after May 14. A designated drop-off location will be announced.
If you would like to help with the landscaping, please contact Junior Warden Claire Hammen by email or by phone at 207-333-1443.
