What is St. Elizabeth’s Pantry

St. Elizabeth’s is a low-barrier pantry serving non-food essentials to all those in need, including new Mainers and Mainers whose families have been here for generations.  It is a mission of the Episcopal Diocese of Maine.  St. Luke’s generously shares their space with the Pantry.

Each Tuesday morning the pantry is opened in the portico and lower hall to welcome 175 – 250 visitors.  Toilet paper, laundry detergent, bath soap, feminine and adult incontinence products are available weekly. Soft and hard housewares, along with dental care items, are offered each month.  Winter coats, boots and accessories are made available seasonally. This year COVID vaccination and follow-up clinics were offered.

How can you help?  New volunteers are always welcome.  Monday afternoon from 2 – 4 pm tables of donated housewares are setup for the Tuesday distribution.  Every 3rd Tuesday from 8:00 to 11 am, volunteers representing St. Luke’s work directly with visitors or package product for future weeks.  Contact Martha Parshley at martha.parshley@gmail.com for more information.

Financial donations or new product donations are always welcome.  They allow us to offer the products listed above.  Donations can be made directly through the St. Luke’s VANCO site or sent to our address: St. Elizabeth’s Jubilee Center, PO Box 4036, Portland, Maine 04101.  You can find our Amazon wish list on our website.
