Holding off on the Common Cup until Mother’s Day

With Cumberland County at a COVID level of “green,” we have moved to have masks as optional. We had planned to return to using a chalice/common cup during our communion services on May 1. Still, due to cases of COVID in our staff and volunteers, we are delaying offering the chalice until May 8, Mother’s Day. Mother’s Day will also mark the return of coffee hour!

Following recommendations from medical professionals, intinction (dipping bread into the common cup) will not be permitted, as it increases the risk of contagion. If you prefer not to receive from the common cup, you may cross your arms as the chalice passes or return directly to your seat after receiving the bread.

Should COVID numbers change and Cumberland county move to “yellow” or “red,” we will reintroduce COVID protocols, including requiring wearing masks and discontinuing coffee hour, and using the chalice.
