Please welcome organist Harold Stover who is filling in for Albert while he is away during the month of August. After serving churches in New York City and Portland, Harold now maintains an active free-lance career as organist, conductor, and composer. He is the conductor of Renaissance Voices, a cappella chorus based in Portland, specializing in music from the medieval period through the 17th century. He enjoys worshipping at St. Luke’s when not professionally engaged elsewhere.
The Flowers on the Altar are given to the Glory of God by Rich Price and Paul Loven.
Healing Team: There will be no Team members scheduled through the four (4) Sundays in August or the first Sunday in Sept. We will return on Sunday, Sept. 10th.
Creation Care: Did you know nearly 70% of commercial fishing grounds are depleted or recovering from overfishing (Source: UN Food and Agriculture Organization)? Before ordering seafood, reach for your Seafood Watch pocket guide: www.seafoodwatch.org which will give you the ‘red’ light or ‘green’ when deciding what to choose. (Tip provided by www.greenfaith.org). St. Lukan Sarah Braik avoids this dilemma altogether by employing a vegan diet. All are invited to join the creation care team at their monthly meeting. We’ll gather on August 20 at 11:30 am in the upper parish hall.

I had a great meeting with Katie Holicky, who is the youth group leader and feel really excited about participating in this new interdenomenational venture. *Time and Talent: The creativity and enthusiasm of this congregation are remarkable. Did you know there are already nearly 40 different ministries, projects and committees at work in this Cathedral, and ideas for more? This fall, you will have the opportunity to join in. One component of our Stewardship campaign this year will be a Time and Talent solicitation. We will ask you to support the Cathedral financially, of course, but also in ways to help make St. Luke’s what you want it to be. Stay tuned. Dan McDonald
